Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Program Document
USA Swimming's top priority continues to be keeping athletes safe. Safe Sport is USA Swmming's comprehensive abuse prevention program and provides tools for swim clubs to educate their members and intervene in risky situations.
Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Program(MAAPP) is the enhancement imposed by the U.S. Center for SafeSport and must be impleted by June 23, 2019. The policy addresses risk areas that present opportunites for abuse to occur.
This policy covers five (5) areas:
1- One on One Interactions
2- Travel: Local & Team
3- Social Media & Electronic Communication
4- Locker Rooms & Changing Areas
5- Massages & Rubdowns
MAAPP will apply to all adults who interact with and have direct and frequent contact with minor athletes, including adult athletes. The language used in the policy is Applicable Adult. All Applicable Adults will be required to follow MAAPP.
